I am incredibly excited to announce that Chiswell Green Dental Centre, in association with Dentsply Sirona Implants, are introducing a new and robust clinical training programme. A course to help provide general dental practitioners with the clinical skills and academic knowledge to start restoring dental implants. This is a one-year part-time programme during which all training will be provided by GDC registered specialists experienced in all aspects of implant dentistry. The course will enable you to deliver implant treatment for your patients without requiring the costly and complicated process of setting up your surgery for surgical procedures. The course is aimed at all dentists working in general dental practice with little or no experience in implant dentistry who wish to start providing dental implant treatments for their patients in general practice. Graduates of the course will feel confident in planning and delivering the restoration of implants supporting single crowns and short span bridges. There will be 6 timetabled days over the course of 12 months. Teaching will be delivered through a series of interactive lectures, seminars and hands-on practical sessions. In addition to the 6 timetabled days, you will be asked to attend for a further 3 clinical sessions. You will have the opportunity to observe (and assist if desired) the surgical placement of a dental implant for your chosen case. At the following sessions you will carry out the clinical stages required for the restoration of the implant under direct one-to-one supervision. Course participants will be given guidance on selecting an appropriate patient from their practice for whom they will treatment plan and provide all necessary prosthodontic aspects of implant treatment. Please note that appropriate patients willing to undergo treatment will be required to pay for their treatment. Assessment at the end of the year is through a short written assessment and case presentation.
